Teacher Gehring faces new charges
Amy Gehring
Amy Gehring later admitted having sex with a pupil
Amy Gehring, the supply teacher cleared in the UK of having underage sex with pupils, is to face disciplinary charges in her native Canada.

The 26-year-old, who was acquitted in February of having sex with two British schoolboys, is to face seven allegations of misconduct by the Ontario College of Teachers.

The charges all relate to her behaviour while she was working in the UK.

If found guilty, she could be banned from teaching in Canada.

Confession

Ms Gehring was cleared at Guildford Crown Court of indecently assaulting brothers, aged 14 and 15 in her class at a Surrey school.

The biology teacher later admitted having sex with a 16-year-old pupil at a previous school and confessed that she was too drunk to remember if she had slept with a 15-year-old boy.

Following the court case, the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), which is responsible for recruitment agencies, had warned Timeplan, the agency which hired Ms Gehring, that it could be subjected to an investigation.

The government later dropped the case.

Suspension

The Ontario college's accusations against her include abusing students "physically, sexually, verbally, psychologically or emotionally", according to the Ottawa Citizen newspaper.

She is also alleged to have failed to maintain the standards of the profession, improperly disclosed information about a student and behaved in a way that could be viewed as "disgraceful, dishonourable or unprofessional".

Ms Gehring has never taught in Ontario, but the college suspended her certificate in late February, citing concerns about pupil safety.

The hearing is to take place on 30 April.
