Couple found hanged after 'tiff'
South Wales Police
Officers said there were no suspicious circumstances
South Wales Police are investigating the deaths of a "perfect young couple" found hanged within days of each other.

Cabaret dancer Siobhan Lee, 29, was found hanged in her bathroom by partner Scott Elliott Jones, 22, at their village home at Cwmafan near Port Talbot on 25 March.

Four days later, former soldier Mr Jones died in a copycat incident.

We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the case - it's a family tragedy

Spokesperson for South Wales Police reacts
A police spokesperson said a "lovers' tiff" could have led to the deaths.

Officers believe the pair rowed at the semi-detached property in the Brynbryddan area, which they moved to at Christmas.

Mr Jones found Ms Lee hanged in the loft entrance above the house's bathroom after an argument, police said.

On March 29, Mr Jones - a teacher - was found dead by worried relatives, who broke in after receiving no answer from their phone calls.

'Family tragedy'

A police spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances involved in the incident.

"We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the case," he said. "It is a family tragedy."

A neighbour said: "The couple seemed very loving and had often been seen walking hand-in-hand down the main street.

Case facts
25 Mar - Siobhan Lee found hanged
29 Mar - Scott Jones found dead
Coroner's verdict - Pending
Police view - Not suspicious
"They were full of ideas for the house including a complete decoration and landscaping of the gardens.

"They seemed the perfect couple."

Their plans for the future ended when Ms Lee ran upstairs following an argument.

Her partner found her hanging by a flex tied to a wooden beam across the loft entrance.

The former Royal Welsh Fusilier was said to be inconsolable.

His body was found by his sister and her boyfriend, who lived in the same street.

They had become anxious after repeated phone calls failed to elicit a response.

Mr Jones was found hanging by a rope in the same soft door - just four days after his girlfriend died.

Neath and Port Talbot coroner David Osbourne was due to return a verdict on the couple's deaths.
