Record sales for Broadway's Graduate
Hit West End show The Graduate, starring Kathleen Turner, has broken all records for advance ticket sales on Broadway.

The play, which is British-produced, has taken $5.3m (£3.7m) ahead of its New York opening on Thursday night.

The stage adaptation of Mike Nichols' 1967 film see screen star Turner briefly bare all as she seduces American Pie star Jason Biggs.

Its success comes despite The Graduate's failure to impress US critics, with the Boston Herald calling it "a mess", while the Boston Globe said it was an "alternatively amusing and frustrating theatre piece".

The show will be taped on 14 April in Los Angeles, and is scheduled for broadcast on 17 April.

Royal Museum of Scotland reopens

The Royal Museum of Scotland, in Edinburgh, has reopened after it was evacuated following a toxic chemical spill that left eight people needing hospital treatment.

Seven visitors and a contractor were taken ill after inhaling fumes from an industrial cleaning agent that was leaking from pipes.

They were later discharged from the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Firefighters were called in to clear up around five gallons of the colourless liquid Rodolite K10, which emits poisonous fumes.

Blade 2 slices up box office

Blade 2, starring Wesley Snipes as a modern-day vampire hunter, has shot straight to the top of the UK and Ireland box office charts.

The fantasy and horror film knocks comedy Ali G indaHouse into third place after just a week at the top.

Animated adventure Ice Age remains in second place, while Crossroads, starring Britney Spears, only manages fourth position.

A re-released 20th anniversary edition of ET: The Extra-Terrestrial is the only other entry in the top 10, at number seven.
