Former England footballer charged
Wright will appear before Chester magistrates on 5 April
Former Liverpool and England footballer Mark Wright has been charged with harassment.
The 38-year-old soccer manager, who played in the 1990 World Cup, is to appear before magistrates charged with harassment with violence. It is believed the charge relates to Wright's estranged wife Sarah, who still lives in the couple's marital home in Willaston, Cheshire. Mr Wright, who played for Liverpool during the 1990s and now manages non-league Chester City, will appear before Chester magistrates on 5 April. "Fantastic job" A spokeswoman for Cheshire Police said: "A 38-year-old man has been charged with one offence of harassment with violence." Stephen Vaughan, chairman and owner of Chester City, is backing Mr Wright. He said: "Mark has done a fantastic job at the club since he took over. "He has the full support and backing of all the staff and we are confident that his name will be cleared." |
