Plea by dead prostitute's mother
Ms Bettles trademark coat is still missing
The mother of murdered prostitute Michelle Bettles has spoken of her love for her daughter, and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Police have revealed details of a post-mortem on the 22-year-old which revealed that she died from strangulation. Ms Bettles body was found in woods near Dereham in Norfolk on Sunday, by a man walking his dog. Detectives have released a photo of the victim, and are keen to trace her trademark leather coat which was missing from the crime scene.
Ms Bettles distraught mother said: "Michelle was my daughter and I loved her and I will miss her dearly. "Whatever Michelle was doing with her life was her decision. "Sometimes it is easy to mix with the wrong people, but this does not give anyone the right to take her life away."
An inquest will be held into Ms Bettles death, but no date has yet been set. A police spokesperson said: "A post-mortem carried out at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital has revealed the cause of death to be manual strangulation." She is the fourth prostitute to go missing or be murdered in Norfolk in the past ten years. Norfolk Police are not linking the cases yet but said they would not rule anything out so early into their investigations.
