Woman binge drinker faces jail
Alcopops
Christina Williams said she had drunk 15 bottles of Alcopops
A court has heard how a north Wales woman drank 15 bottles of alcopops and 15 pints of beer before attacking a pub landlady.

Flintshire magistrates warned Christina Williams, from Carmel, near Holywell, that she could be jailed for the offence.

She does regret what happened to that lady and is ashamed about what she has done

Peter Taylor, defense solicitor

The 24-year-old admitted assault and being drunk and disorderly and a charge of using violence at Mold police station

It followed an attack on Faith Lawrence at the Queensferry Hotel in Garden City last month.

At the hearing on Tuesday, the court was told Williams had a "substantial problem with alcohol" and problems of a "psychiatric nature".

Magistrates heard how violence had broke out after Mrs Lawrence asked Williams to leave the pub over claims she had been seen putting her hand in a customer's pocket.

Regrets

Defense solicitor Peter Taylor said Williams had felt wronged.

"She did feel aggrieved at being falsely accused of theft," he said.

He added his client had substantial problems and "something of a destructive nature".

"She does regret what happened to that lady and is ashamed about what she has done," Mr Taylor said.

The court was told Williams became aggressive and had to be restrained before being ejected from the pub.

Serious offence

Tracey Willingham, prosecuting, said it was left to those in the pub to break up the fight and escort Williams from the premises.

The care assistant accepted all the allegations against her, apart from the claim she had stolen from a customer - which was later found to be untrue.

Williams was granted bail pending sentencing next month.

Chairman of Flintshire Magistrates bench Douglas Wynne told Williams the assault was a serious offence.

"We would warn you we have in mind a custodial sentence," he said.
