Man injured in road collision
A man is in hospital with serious head injuries following a traffic collision in Belfast.
The incident happened shortly before 0400 BST on Tuesday in the Antrim Road in the north of the city. It is understood the man sustained the injuries after two parked cars were struck by a passing car. Meanwhile, a 14-year-old boy has been killed in a road accident in County Tyrone. Weekend deaths He was Hugh McDonald from Innishmore Park in Coalisland. It is understood the teenager was riding a bicycle on the Mullanahoe Road in Ardboe when he was struck by a Toyota car on Monday. His death brings to five the number of people killed in road accidents in Northern Ireland over the Easter weekend. On Monday, a motorcyclist and a pedestrian were killed on the Kilrea Road in Clady outside Magherafelt in County Londonderry. It is understood the motorcyclist was 30, while the pedestrian was in his 60s.
In County Down, Tony Crane, 19, and Patrick Rogan, 16, died when the car they were in crashed on the Ardglass Road in Downpatrick on Friday night. Both teenagers were from Killough. The car clipped a verge on the wrong side of the road, then went into a wall, before rolling onto its roof. The police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the accident, or who saw the red Rover car the teenagers were in, to come forward. The deaths bring to 36 the number of people killed on the roads so far this year |
