Security alert at base ends
The area was cordoned off during the alert
A security alert near an army base in County Londonderry has turned out to be a false alarm.

A number of people had been moved from their homes as army bomb experts examined a van at Shackleton Barracks in Ballykelly on Tuesday.

During the alert, Dukes Lane and Main Street in the town were cordoned off.

Meanwhile, police and army bomb experts have dealt with a suspect pipe bomb in north Belfast.

During the operation early on Tuesday morning, part of Halliday's Road was closed.
