IMF in Argentina for crucial visit

Representatives of the International Monetary Fund have arrived in Argentina for further discussions on the economic crisis there.

The Argentine Government is seeking up to $25bn to help revive the economy.

But the IMF is insisting on spending cuts and other reforms first.

The IMF suspended aid last December as Argentina's economic crisis spiralled out of control, culminating in the resignation of two presidents.

Correspondents say the outcome of the IMF visit is crucial for the Argentine government, which risks losing all credibility unless it secures an agreement.
