Ninety die in Somali sinking

More than 90 people are reported to have drowned in rough seas between Somalia and Yemen after their boat foundered.

The three crew were rescued by another vessel.

They had been trying to fix a leak discovered after the boat left the Somali port of Mareer, near Bosasso in Puntland.

Eyewitnesses aboard the rescuing craft said they had seen the boat sinking and the passengers shouting for help.

Since Somalia's civil war began in 1991, hundreds of people have died at sea trying to reach Yemen.
