Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri has arrived in India for a four-day visit focussed on economic links and the global war against terrorism.

Megawati, who is in India on the last leg of a four-nation Asian tour, is due to begin the official part of her visit on Wednesday morning, an Indian diplomat said.

She is due to hold talks with Indian President KR Narayanan, Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and other senior officials.

On Thursday, Megawati is due to visit the southern Indian city of Hyderabad - a major centre for IT software.

Shortly after arriving in Delhi on Monday, Megawati left for a one-day private visit to the Hindu holy town of Rishikesh on the Ganges River in northern Uttar Pradesh state.
