FARC guerilla leader arrested

Colombian troops have arrested a prominent leader of the rebel group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

The man known as Martin Caballero, was arrested following a battle with troops in Bolivar in the north of the country. Six people were killed in the fighting including one officer.

Correspondents say Mr Caballero is wanted in connection with an alleged assassination attempt on the former US President Bill Clinton when he visited the Colombian city of Cartagena in August 2000.

On that day police defused a 2 kilogram bomb placed a few metres from a building Mr Clinton was planning to visit.
