'Our tribute to a sweet lady'

Lynne and Ronan Robertson heard of the Queen Mother's death late on Saturday night. BBC News Online follows the couple as they pay tribute to "the nation's grandmother".

At a Windsor flower stall, just yards from where the Queen Mother will be buried, owner Richard Collins said many customers have been "fighting back the tears on this sad day".

Lynne Robertson confidently reaches across the bouquets for two bunches of irises. "Blue flowers for a lady who always seemed to be wearing blue," she said.

As the couple make their way up to Windsor Castle - where the Queen Mother's body lies - Lynne says the 101-year-old's death is the "end of an era and that's a great sadness".

Picking her way through the small crowd of mourners and tourists, Lynne says she is saddened but not surprised by the lack of people paying their respects to the Queen Mother.

Handing her flowers to a police officer, Lynne says the Royal Family may struggle to fill the gap left by the Queen Mother's death. "She kept the family together. She was very well respected but also a nice, sweet lady who they could take their problems to."
