Police release paedophile picture
Scotland Yard
Police believe Gillies may be in the London area
Police have released the photograph of a convicted paedophile in an attempt to trace him.

John Gilroy Gillies, 40, was previously jailed for sexual offences against children.

He has since been released from prison but was ordered to remain at a specific address in London.

Detectives say Gillies has moved from the address which was a condition of his bail.

He has now disappeared and police urgently want to trace him.

Gillies is also known to use the alias Roy King and it is thought he may still be in the London area.

He is currently on bail for failing to place his name on the sex offenders' register.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Extensive efforts to trace him have so far been unsuccessful."

Under the Sex Offenders Act, anyone released from a custodial sentence must notify police of their name and address within three days.

They have 14 days to notify police if they change address.

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Gillies is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police Service.
