In pictures: India's Holi festival
India observes the Hindu festival of Holi, traditionally one of the country's most exuberant religious holidays. Celebrations were muted this year by fears of further communal bloodshed, and security was tight.
Security forces were taking no chances, clamping curfews on many parts of Gujarat.

But one tourist was unhappy about getting in the way
Little violence was reported, and many enjoyed the day.
