Murder accused is refused bail
William Kennedy was found dead at his Ahoghill home
William Kennedy was found dead at his Ahoghill home
A County Antrim man accused of murdering a 65-year-old retired policeman has been refused bail.

Mervyn Thomas Wlliamson, 21, from Brookfield gardens in Ahoghill, is accused of murdering William Kennedy at his home in the village on 23 December.

Mr Williamson denied the murder.

The Crown lawyer told the court the victim was repeatedly stabbed with a knife taken from his kitchen while another man ransacked his house looking for valuables.

The lawyer said the victim was frail and largely immobile.

The judge described the attack on Mr Kennedy was "despicable".
