Landslides cause deaths in DR Congo
A series of landslides in North Kivu province in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo is reported to have killed at least 12 people.
Witnesses reported that seven members of the same family died in the village of Rutenga in the Masisi district, 40 kilometres south-west of Goma, when several houses were engulfed after heavy rains overnight on Saturday. A few days earlier women and two children were reported to be among the victims of landslides in the nearby village of Mashango. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
