Three arrested over deaths

Strathclyde Police have arrested three men
Three men have been arrested in connection with the death of two people in separate incidents Glasgow in the early hours of New Year's Day.

A 20-year old woman was found dead in the Maryhill area of the city and a 41-year old man died in hospital following an alleged incident in Cardonald, according to Strathclyde Police.

The force said that body of the woman was found in Maryhill's Cumlodden Drive after a call to police at 1225GMT.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the woman's death.

A spokesman said: "In relation to the incident in Cumlodden Drive, a man is custody and will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, 3 January."

Police said that two men, aged 35 and 28, had been arrested in connection with the death in Cardonald.

They are also expected to appear in court on Thursday.

A spokesman added: "Police are anxious to trace any witnesses who may have been around the Ladykirk Drive area between 0500 and 0530 GMT."
