Men charged following hijacking
Two brothers and their cousin have been charged in connection with an incident at a Chinese restaurant in Belfast at the weekend.

Terence Joseph McCartan, 39, of no fixed address, Paul McCartan, 36, of Cooke Court, Belfast, and William John McCartan, 29, of Castle Espie, Comber, County Down appeared before Belfast Magistrate's Court on Monday.

They were charged with causing grievous bodily harm to the owner of the Imperial City restaurant in Botanic Avenue.

The men were also charged with hi-jacking the man's car and possessing a firearm with intent.

Bail

The trio were arrested after a police car was rammed in nearby India Street.

A replica gun was found in the hi-jacked car.

A detective told Belfast Magistrate's Court on Monday that all three replied "not guilty" when they were charged.

They were remanded in custody until 28 January and their solicitor said applications for bail would be lodged in the High Court.
