Train dispute causes more disruption
Some staff are refusing to work overtime
An unofficial overtime ban by train drivers has caused further disruption for rail users in Scotland's central belt.
ScotRail said it had been forced to cancel 15 trains on its north Clyde routes on Sunday. The train operator also said that the service between Edinburgh to North Berwick was not running. Disruption is also expected during the coming week as talks aimed at ending the dispute will not resume until next Friday.
Some drivers are refusing to do overtime or work on rest days as they seek a £5,000 pay rise. ScotRail depends on drivers working overtime to maintain its services. They are seeking a £5,000 increase in the average drivers' salary to £28,000 - the equivalent of a 22% pay rise. The company has offered drivers 3%, and told unions that any further increase would need to be self-financing through increased productivity. ScotRail's acting managing director, Nick Brown, described Friday's talks as "very constructive". Another meeting is scheduled to take place on 4 January.
