Briton held in terror investigation
The Foreign Office is aware of the reports
The Foreign Office is investigating reports that a British man is being held in Pakistan for having suspected links to Osama Bin Laden's al-Qaeda group.
The man is said to have been arrested close to a former terrorist training camp at the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He has been named as James Alexander McLintock. The Foreign Office confirmed it was investigating the matter, but said it was not aware of a British citizen being detained.
It is thought that the man, who was said to have been picked up 10 days ago, was originally from Scotland. He was believed to have a British passport and could speak Arabic as well as English. The Pakistan foreign office and home office were not available for comment. But a spokesman for the British Foreign Office said: "We are aware of the reports and are investigating them through the High Commission in Islamabad. "At this stage we have not received any official notification from the Pakistan authorities."
