Two charged with fire murder
Fire scene
Finn Harkins survived the fire
A man and a woman have been charged with the murder of a pregnant woman who died in a fire in her home earlier this month.

Gail Ross, 24, is believed to have been overcome by fumes as she attempted to save her two-year-old son Finn.

He survived the fire at the house in Craig Park Avenue, Ratho, near Edinburgh, on 12 December.

However, he was treated in hospital for the effects of smoke inhalation.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said the man and woman, who have not been named, had also been charged with attempting to murder the two-year-old.

He said: "Following enquiries into the fatal fire at Craig Park Avenue on 12 December two people, an adult male and female, have been arrested and charged with the murder of Gail Karen Ross or Harkins and the attempted murder of Finn Harkins.

"Both will be appearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow."
