Saudi king backs anti-terror moves
King Fahd of Saudi Arabia has called for the eradication of terrorism, saying it is prohibited by Islam.
The Saudi monarch said terrorism sets out to spread evil over the earth. He said everyone should do their utmost to get rid of it, so long as all such actions were within the teachings of Islam and international law. King Fahd was speaking ahead of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit in the Omani capital, Muscat. Earlier Omani Foreign Minister Yousef bin Alawi said the two-day meeting would focus on economic integration, the fight against terror and the Middle East peace process. The GCC groups Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
