More snow on the way for NI
Snow in Belfast
Snow leaves driving conditions hazardous
Severe weather conditions in Northern Ireland are likely to last over the weekend, the Met Office has said.

Driving conditions are proving difficult for motorists after a heavy falls of snow throughout Saturday.

Temperatures have fallen below freezing and are likely to stay that way until Monday, with snow continuing to fall.

Fraser Rolston from the Met Office at Aldergrove, County Antrim, said some areas would be badly affected.

Frost and ice

"I think the worst areas will be counties Antrim and Derry where the snow could be quite deep by tomorrow (Sunday) morning," he said.

"The further south you go, Fermanagh, south Armagh, maybe not quite so bad but a pretty snowy scene everywhere and temperatures will struggle over the next couple of days.

"It should dry up with frost and ice becoming the main problem by Monday," he said.

And, once again, the cold weather disrupted Northern Ireland's sporting fixtures.

Two games in the Smirnoff Premiership and three in the First Division were postponed.

The Premiership games called off were Crusaders v Coleraine at Seaview and Omagh v Newry at St Julian's Road.

The Crusaders game has been rescheduled for Tuesday 1 January at 1500 GMT.

Matches off in the First Division were Larne's home match against Dungannon Swifts, Ballymena United against Institute at the Showgrounds and Lisburn Distillery v Carrick.

Larne now plan to play Dungannon on Tuesday (1500 GMT).

The other seven Irish League games were able to go ahead.

Just one game in hockey's Senior League Section One survived - Newry v Mossley.

The All Ireland League Division Two game between Belfast Harlequins and Malone at Ormeau was called off.
