Hit-and-run: Man arrested
Police have appealed for witnesses at the death scene
A man has been arrested in connection with the hit and run incident in Caerphilly, south Wales, in which a father-of-three died.
The 21-year-old local man is in custody at Caerphilly Police Station helping detectives with their inquiries.
A silver-blue Toyota Celica collided with Joseph William Curtis, 48, killing him. The owner of the vehicle has been traced by police and eliminated from their enquiries. Mr Curtis was struck by a car just before 0500 GMT Thursday on Thomas Street in Abertridwr. He had been out with friends and family - now receiving counselling from police - when he was hit by the vehicle. From Tan-y-bryn, Senghenydd, he leaves a wife and three daughters. Gwent Police said they were not approaching the Toyota driver as a suspect.
Inspector Chris Norman said the X-registration vehicle was travelling between Abertridwr and Trecenydd. "It's a busy time of year, and there was quite a bit of activity in the area," he added.
"I'm also anxious to trace any drivers or pedestrians who may have been in Thomas Street." Accident investigators have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries near the scene. They are also appealing for any witnesses. The police spokesman said the force had been encouraged by the response from the public.
