Boxing Day deaths inquiry continues
Post mortem examinations have been carried out on the bodies of a couple found at a remote house in west Wales on Boxing Day.
A Home Office pathologist and ballistics experts were called in by police investigating the deaths in the village of Dinas, just outside Newport in Pembrokeshire. The bodies of a middle-aged man and woman were found next to a gun at their home. Dyfed-Powys Police say some next-of-kin have still to be informed of the deaths.
The post-mortem examinations were carried out on the pair at Haverfordwest's Withybush Hospital on Thursday afternoon. Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed a man telephoned the force from the house, named Parke, shortly before the incident. Officers rushed to the building where the couple lay dead. A gun was found nearby. A spokesman for the force said no-one else was being sought in connection with the deaths. Scenes of crimes officers were joined by a police firearms expert at the house. Police are withholding the names of the dead pair until their bodies have been formally identified. "No further details are being released at this stage until next of kin have been informed," the police spokesman added.
