Manila police arrest terrorist suspect

Police in the Philippines say they have arrested a Jordanian man suspected of having links with a Middle Eastern terrorist organisation.

A police spokesman said nearly 300 sticks of dynamite were seized from the home of the man, Haji Yousef Alghoul, in the capital, Manila.

He said the police also found a number of documents in Arabic, including a poem about a holy war against the United States.

The police said the arrest came after a three-month investigation into possible international terrorism activity in the Philippines.
