Boxing Day double deaths inquiry

Ballistics experts and a Home Office pathologist are innvestigating the death of a couple at a remote house in west Wales on Boxing Day.

The bodies of a middle-aged man and woman were found next to a gun at their home in the village of Dinas, just outside Newport in Pembrokeshire.


No further details are being released at this stage until next of kin have been informed

Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman

Post-mortem examinations were being carried out on the pair at Haverfordwest's Withybush Hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed a man telephoned the force from the house, named Parke, shortly before the incident.

Officers rushed to the building where the couple lay dead. A gun was found nearby.

A spokesman for the force said no-one else was being sought in connection with the deaths.

Scenes of crimes officers were joined by a police firearms expert at the house.

All next of kin have now been informed, but police are withholding the names of the dead pair until their bodies have been formally identified.

"No further details are being released at this stage until next of kin have been informed," the police spokesman added.
