Man stabbed in Belfast street
The victim was stabbed on University Street
A 21-year old man's been treated in hospital after being stabbed in the neck in Belfast's university area.
He was assaulted by a group of four men at about 0130 GMT on Thursday, near a hotel in University Street, and then stabbed with a broken bottle. A 23-year old man is being questioned by police in connection with the stabbing. It is understood the victim went to the assistance of a man who was being beaten and kicked. A few minutes earlier, he also tried to sort out a row involving another man and a blonde haired woman, who the police are anxious to trace. The 21-year-old is in a stable condition but at one point his life was thought to be in danger. Police say he lost a lot of blood and, but for the prompt actions of paramedics and police officers who treated him at the scene, they would be dealing with a murder. |
