Teenage girl denies 'pimp' charges
red light district
It is alleged the girls worked in the red light district
A 14-year-old girl has told a court how an older girl kidnapped her and forced her to become a prostitute on the streets of Cardiff.

The 17-year-old defendant is charged with abducting two teenagers and making them live as prostitutes, while acting as their "pimp".

One night I tried to phone my nan to see if she could come and pick me up

Alleged victim, 14

Cardiff Crown Court heard how the defendant allowed the two girls to stay at her flat, but then told them they would have to pay rent - and earn it by selling themselves for sex.

The 14-year-old told the court: "I had never worked as a prostitute before. I gave her half of what I got."

The court heard claims from the 14-year-old that she eventually escaped and went to stay with a friend.

The girl told the court: "One night I tried to phone my nan to see if she could come and pick me up because I did not want to stay there."

Escape claims

But it is claimed that the 17-year-old put the phone down and told the girl she now had to start paying 75% of her earnings to her.

The court was told the 14-year-old and a 15-year-old were made work on the streets of Cardiff's red light district.

The younger girl claimed she escaped after four nights and went to stay with a friend.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named, denies two charges of child abduction and two counts of compelling them to be prostitutes.

The trial continues.
