Korean court upholds anti-adultery laws

South Korea Constitutional Court upholds the country's anti-adultery law, saying it is needed to protect sexual morality.

The nine-member Court passed the ruling with only one dissenting vote.

However, it advised the South Korean Government to consider its abolition in the future, citing changing times and debates over its validity.

The ruling followed a complaint filed last year by a man from Seoul, who was indicted on adultery charges.

His case is still pending.

Under the 50-year-old law a person found guilty of adultery can be imprisoned for up to two years.
