Pakistani detainee dies in US prison
Prison authorities in the United States say a Pakistani man arrested in the wake of the 11 September attacks on New York and Washington has died in his prison cell.

An official said that 55-year-old Muhammed Butt had died of a pre-existing heart condition.

The official said that Mr Butt had been put in custody on the order of the Immigration and Naturalisation Service and was awaiting deportation when he died.

Jail officials said that the body had tested negative for exposure to anthrax.
