M4 siege: Man appears in court
Court graphic
A man has appeared before magistrates in Cornwall charged with threatening to kill a child and with possessing a handgun.

The charges relate to an incident which began at a caravan park in West Cornwall and ended on the M4 in Wiltshire on Sunday.

The 45-year-old man from Lincolnshire, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before magistrates in Truro.

He was charged with having made a threat to kill a child at Sennen on Friday 19 October.

He was also charged with possessing a handgun, intending to cause a police officer at Sennen to believe violence would be used against him or another.

The chairman of the bench, Linda Higgins, made an order banning the reporting of any information which could lead to the identification of the child.

An application for bail was refused. The man was remanded in custody to appear at Truro Crown Court on Tuesday 30 October.
