Bob Dylan to write autobiography
Bob Dylan has signed a deal to write his autobiography and release it as a number of volumes.
The rock legend has been working on the autobiography, to be called Chronicles, for more than a year. "I think that what I'm writing has been trying to find its way out for some time now," he said. Dylan, whose only other book was a collection of poems and fiction written in 1966, promised to be "looking at everything from a new point of view".
Brockovich tries for own TV show Erin Brockovich could launch a career as a TV talk show host after American network NBC confirmed she is working on a pilot for a possible series. Brockovich was made famous when Julia Roberts won an Oscar for portraying her in the film that bore her name. Producers are still deciding on a format for the show, which could be filmed as early as next month. Brockovich helped win a record $333m (£234,) lawsuit against a company accused of illegally contaminating a city's water supply seven years ago.
Ant and Dec field film offers Television presenters Ant and Dec have said they will "jump at the chance" to star in UK comedy films after revealing they have received a number of offers. They have been approached by "quite a few" British-based film companies, they told The Sun newspaper. "It's our ambition to star in a great British comedy. There are so many fantastic writers, directors and producers in Britain. We'd love to be part of that," Ant McPartlin said. The duo, who began their careers as child actors on BBC TV drama Byker Grove, are nominated for the Most Popular Entertainment Presenter prize at the National Television Awards, which will be handed out in London on Tuesday.
Mariah 'to star in Ally' Mariah Carey is to star in hit US TV series Ally McBeal next year, it has been reported. The globally famous singer, who recently made a comeback from an emotional breakdown, is to guest star in an episode on 6 January, the Hollywood Reporter said. She is expected to sing Lead the Way, from her new album Glitter, and feature in the show alongside fellow singer Jon Bon Jovi, who is reportedly joining the cast as Ally's new love interest. Carey recently appeared on TV in a telethon tribute for the victims of the US attacks, and performed at the VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards.
Tarrant to keep mouth shut TV presenter and DJ Chris Tarrant is to keep quiet for a whole 24 hours - including during his Capital FM breakfast show - as part of a charity silence. The presenter is among stars who have pledged to support a £1m fundraising drive for homeless charity Centrepoint. Newsreader Kirsty Young - who like Tarrant is a Centrepoint ambassador - is also taking part by working in the kitchens of the London club Soho House, which is owned by her husband Nick Jones. The aim of the fundraising campaign, Who Wants To Be?, is for members of the public to become Centrepoint Challengers and raise £1,000 by coming up with unusual sponsored events. |
