East Halton graphic
Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident in Lincolnshire in which a man was run over twice.

Andrew Robinson, 31, had been lying in the road calling an ambulance on his mobile telephone when he was struck by a car for a second time.

Police have appealed for witnesses to either incident to contact them.

Lisa Hodson, press officer for Humberside Police told BBC News Online: "The circumstances are unusual but we can't say whether or not the incident was suspicious until we have further witnesses come forward."

It is not clear if Mr Robinson was struck by the same car twice.

Emergency services were called to College Road in East Halton at 2319 BST on Monday.

Three occupants of a car which had stopped nearby were helping the victim as the second collision occurred.

After that incident, the driver of the car did stop but failed to leave any details or stay at the scene.

Police officers are talking to the three other people to try to establish exactly what happened.

Mr Robinson, a married father-of-three was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary where he died.

His children are all under ten-years-old and a specially-trained police officer is supporting the family.

Witnesses to either incident have been asked to contact Scunthorpe Police Station.
