US Navy divers have been searching the wreck of the Japanese fishing boat Ehime Maru, which was accidentally sunk by a US submarine in February.
Nine Japanese students and teachers were reported missing after the incident. The Navy says two of those may never be found.

![]() The dive site is about 1.5km (1 mile) off the coast of Honolulu at a depth of about 35 metres (115 feet)
![]() Divers William Crider and George Primavera were the first team into the water
![]() They are searching for nine missing people but the Navy says only seven bodies may ever be recovered
![]() It is a hazardous job - the divers have to enter and search the trawler thoroughly
![]() The cost of the recovery operation is put at $60m and could last until early November
![]() Afterwards, the Ehime Maru will be towed to a new deep-water site and left to lie in peace
