Body found under bridge
Gloucestershire Police
Police in Gloucestershire are investigating the discovery of a body under a bridge.

A section of footpath over the Metz Way bridge in Gloucester was closed on Tuesday morning after the discovery of a man's body on land below.

A police spokesman says that they have no idea as to the identity of the body or how long it had been there.

Scenes-of-crime officers and members of Gloucestershire constabulary's CID have been examining the scene.

Joint inquiry

They are holding a joint inquiry with British Transport Police as the body was found by a railway employee on land used as a storage yard.

The coroner and Home Office pathologist have been informed.

The police are not expected to release any further information until the results of a post-mortem examination are known.

An appeal has been made for anyone to come forward who may either have seen anything suspicious in the area or is concerned about a missing person.
