Men hunted after taxi murder

Police are continuing their inquires in the community

Detectives investigating the shooting of a taxi driver are trying to trace two men who fled addresses half-a-mile from the murder scene.

West Yorkshire Police carried out searches of four properties close to the office of Mohammed Basharat on Monday.

Mr Basharat, 33, was shot in the head on Saturday night by a lone gunman who entered the office in Bradford where he worked.

Today, a police spokeswoman said the addresses in Greaves Street, Little Horton, had been used by two Afro-Caribbean men who had "left suddenly".

"The people who have been using the premises are of great interest to the inquiry team and officers appeal to anyone with information about these men, the vehicles they used or any other information to come forward," she said.

During the raids police seized personal belongings, documents, drugs paraphernalia, a quantity of crack cocaine and a small amount of cannabis.

On Monday detectives revealed that Mr Basharat's Vauxhall Cavalier collided with a passing Renault Clio, clipping its wing mirror, at about 1800 BST on Friday.

The Clio was occupied by two Afro-Caribbean men.

Following the minor collision the driver of the Clio and Mr Basharat confronted each other and became involved in a brief scuffle.

As the Clio driver fled the scene on foot he threatened to kill Mr Basharat.

The following day at 2000 BST, Mr Basharat was shot dead at Little Horton Private Hire.
