Man charged after M4 siege
Police
The motorway siege lasted more than 32 hours
A man has been charged with threatening to kill three police officers after a siege on the M4 motorway.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said the man, who was arrested on Sunday, also faces a charge of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

The 45-year-old man is expected to appear before magistrates in Truro on Tuesday.

He was transferred to Cornwall after being arrested by police in Wiltshire on Sunday.

The arrest followed a 32-hour stand off between police and the driver of a van which had run out of petrol on the motorway.

Police had been forced to close the motorway between junctions 16 and 17 from early Saturday to Sunday afternoon, causing huge traffic problems in the area.
