Tanzanian coffee price falls

Coffee producers in Tanzania say there's been a further fall in the price of the crop since the international producers' organisation announced it was closing down.

Speaking in a BBC interview, the chairman of the Large-scale Coffee Growers Association of Tanzania, Edwin Mtei, said local farmers were already moving away from coffee because of low prices.

And he said African farmers faced particularly high production costs.

The Association of Coffee Producing Countries which was set up eight years ago to campaign for fair prices said at the end of last week it would close in its current form in January.
