Somali MPs consider government future

Members of the Transitional National Assembly in Somalia are continuing to debate a motion of no-confidence in the transitional government.

They say the government of Prime Minister Ali Khalif Galaydh has failed to promote national reconciliation, and has not fought corruption or improved security.

Other members of the assembly have accused the speaker, Abdallah Derrow Issak, of plotting to topple the government by allowing the no confidence motion to go ahead.

They say the motion is part of a power struggle between the prime minister and the president, Abdulkassim Salat Hassan.

The transitional assembly was set up a year ago go as a way of ending a 10-year long breakdown of government in Somalia.
