Boy killed in quarry accident
An 11-year-old boy has been killed after falling from rocks in a quarry.

Northumbria Police said Gavin Reid was playing with a friend at Houghton-le-Spring quarry, Tyne and Wear, when the accident happened.

The local boy was in an area known as Table Rock when he was killed on Saturday afternoon.

Police have warned other youngsters to keep away from the site.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and has started an investigation.
