Motorist in hospital after police crash
A 41-year-old woman was in intensive care on Monday after her car collided with a police vehicle answering an emergency call.

The woman suffered internal injuries following the collision in Leeds at 1815 BST on Sunday, West Yorkshire Police said.

She was taken to St James' Hospital where her condition was said to be stable.

A police spokesman said the Vauxhall Astra police car was answering a 999 call.

Officers injured

It was being driven on Gledhow Valley Road in Leeds towards Roundhay when it was in collision with a Nissan Micra travelling in the opposite direction.

Two police officers were also injured in the collision.

The passenger received minor injuries and the 27-year-old male driver suffered a broken pelvis.

The woman is from the area, the spokesman added.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch with them.
