An Asian taxi driver has been shot dead in Bradford.

Police were called to the Little Horton Private Hire company in Park Lane, Little Horton at 2035 BST on Saturday night.

33-year-old Mohammed Basharat from the Heaton area of Bradford had been shot in the head.

Mr Basharat, a father of four children aged nine to 13, worked for Little Horton Taxis.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Officers attended the scene with the ambulance and they found an Asian male with gunshot wounds to the head.

"First aid was given to him but he was pronounced dead at the scene."

Detectives have started a murder inquiry.

Officers carried out a full search of the area and extended their inquiries to the surrounding area on Sunday.
