In pictures: Ground attack
The US Pentagon has shown grainy video clips of the first ground operation in Afghanistan when special forces dropped deep into Taleban territory in southern Afghanistan on Friday night.
They attacked a compound belonging to the Taleban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar near the group's stronghold of Kandahar, and an airfield south-west of the city.
 US special forces pack for the first ground attack on Afghanistan
 More than 100 soldiers, including Army Rangers, were involved in the operation
 Two Rangers were injured during a dramatic air drop over southern Afghanistan
 They parachuted from aircraft designed to fly at low altitudes below enemy radar
 They were headed for a Taleban airfield and a compound belonging to the elusive Taleban leader
 Using night goggles the Rangers conducted a building by building search, gathering intelligence.
