Today's mail: safe to open

Hello listeners,

This letter has been dictated to me by this week's editor, who rules the show with an iron rod.

As usual, the show has principally been about Eddie. But this week, I, as the editor, decided to exclude him from as much as humanly possible, except of course from the newspaper review, in which Angela Rippon, who looked marvellous by the way, shone.

It's still a bit tricky gauging the mood post September 11th, but what we tried to do this morning was to show that people all around the world are trying, and succeeding, in getting back to normal - whether in Washington DC, a northern Afghanistan refugee camp, or the suburbs of Jerusalem.

I am your humble servant,

Stewart Easton (32)
