Anti-US demonstration in Jakarta
Several thousand Muslim demonstrators have gathered in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, to protest against the US-led strikes on Afghanistan.

The protesters assembled in the central Merdeka square and marched to the US Embassy which was heavily guarded.

Earlier the Indonesian Vice President, Hamzah Haz, appealed for the protests to stop.

Since the attacks on Afghanistan began on 7 October, there have been several demonstrations in Indonesia including one outside the US embassy on Tuesday.
