Husband and wife face bomb charges
A County Tyrone husband and wife have appeared in court charged in connection with the discovery of a 130lb primed bomb.

Steven John Daly, 28, and his 25-year-old wife Helen Marie Daly from Glennaness Road, Sixmilecross, are charged with possession of an explosive substance with intent to endanger life and damage property.

A special sitting of Omagh Magistrate's Court on Thursday evening heard that they denied the charges.

The charges relate to the discovery of a bomb close to Sixmilecross on Tuesday.

It was made up of primed explosives packed into a creamery churn.

Remanded in custody

Mrs Daly went into court with a blanket over her head. Relatives attending the court appeared angry at the media attention.

The couple remained standing throughout the five-minute court hearing.

A police officer said that when charged Steven Daly replied: "Not guilty."

His wife, Helen Marie, had said: "I don't know anything about it."

The court heard that both had protested their innocence under police questioning.

A detective sergeant told the court that he believed he could connect them to the charge.

They were both remanded in custody and were driven away from the court in separate cars.
