Police have launched an appeal for witnesses
Police have launched a murder inquiry after a man died following a stabbing incident at his home.

The 35-year-old, who has not been named, was stabbed at a house in Sandyford Road, Mossblown, in Ayrshire at 0145 BST on Thursday.

He was taken to Ayr Hospital but died shortly after arrival.

A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said: "This man received a stab wound to his body as a result of an altercation in his home.


As this incident took place within the victim's home, there may not be as many witnesses as we would like

"Unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards."

Strathclyde Police have appealed for witnesses and said a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.

The police spokesman added: "As this incident took place within the victim's home, there may not be as many witnesses as we would like.

"But we appeal to anyone in the area who may have seen anything suspicious during the early hours to get in touch."

Descriptions were issed of two men, both aged about 31, who police said they wish to interview in connection with the attack and who were seen in Sandyford Road.

One was described as being of average height and thin build, with short, dark hair and clean shaven. The man was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

The second man was also of average height and thin build and was wearing a white or cream coloured sweatshirt, blue jeans and a white baseball cap.

Police said both men were thought to be local.
