'Four civilians die' in Burundi attack
The authorities in Burundi say Hutu rebels have killed four civilians in an attack in the south of the country. An army spokesman Augustin Nzabampema said the rebels shot dead four people and injured several others when they ambushed a minibus travelling from Bujumbura to Kayogoro earlier in the week. The spokesman blamed rebels of the Forces for the Defence of Democracy group. Correspondents say rebels have intensified attacks amid preparations for the establishment of a transitional government from the beginning of next month. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
